Itchy Feet

With most of the prep done on the Eagle, were getting excited as we look forward to our next RV adventure.
We are planning to leave the first weekend in January, weather permitting, this year and stay thru February.  That will allow us to avoid the worst of the New England winter(we hope).   We have a week booked at a state park in Port Charlotte but everything else is up in the air at this point(we kinda like it that way).  Stay tuned as we make our way down south in a few weeks!!

Vegas, Baby

Forgot my computer charger in Tucson so these posts are a few days late but I'll catch up.

Pulled into Casa de Marco (my nephew Marc's house) on the 30th.  We must have looked like the Beverly Hillbillies coming in.  The guard wouldn't even let us in the front gate and the back gate guard made several phone calls before issuing our pass but the Eagle made herself right at home parked in front of Marc's house for 3 days.

Home Again, Home Again

Got an early start this morning and we just kept going!
 Through Delaware and Jersey!
We stayed on 95 through New York because it was Sunday, I figured trafic would be light.. and because I need to update my GPS.
Across the George Washington Bridge.  The bridge was great but the road after the bridge is like a war zone.  Everything shook so much because of the pot holes even the faucet on the kitchen sink opened up by itself!  Note to self:  "Avoid this Shit Ass road at all costs in the future!!!"

 Into Connecticut!
That little sign says "Welcome to Massachusetts".  I guess they only welcome us a little.
Now that's a sight for sore eyes!
After traveling over 8,000 miles on this trip, The Eagle is In the Nest!!!

Thanks everyone for the many wishes of  "Safe Travels" we received along the way, They worked!!!!!
---We Love You All---

Homeward Push

After a night in Fayetteville we drove all day to get through Washington DC and around Baltimore (cant take the RV through the tunnel because of the propane tank) and made it as far as North East, MD.

 Through Virginia!
Across the Potomac!  If you blow this one up, you'll see the Capitol Building across the river.
 Into Maryland!
By Andrews Air Force Base.

We spent the night at a Flying J truck stop.  If we don't make it home today, we'll be very close for a Monday touchdown!

Northward Bound

We didn't want to leave the great weather in Florida but it's time to head for home & work, boooo!
Spent the night at Fort Mcallister State Park in Richmond Hills Georgia. Beautiful Place!
Roaring campfire and Jack Daniels, Nice!
After 200 miles of billboard we finally get to South of the Border, No big deal.

Made it to Fayetteville, NC to spend the night at the Elks here.  Lucky us, It's Rib Night!!  They were awesome!!!

New Smyrna Beach

New Smyrna is a beautiful town with a funky downtown and a beach you can drive on and park for the day.

Not a shark just a playful dolphin that gave us a show.
More beach weather, sweet!  Check out the cars parked right on the sand.
Having a great time, wish you were here!
Yea, the water was warm enough for us northerners.
We put the eagle in storage and spent a couple of days in Bill & Marlene's guest room.
View from the balcony, not to shabby!
 Looking good Marlene!

We'll be back here next year for a couple of weeks!

Lost a Day

From Largo we headed to Palm Harbor, hope your feeling better AG. Then off to Tarpon Springs for an attitude adjustment, happy hour lasts most of the day here.

Parked the RV here for the day. The old Greek guy at the gate wanted 5 bucks, I offered him 3 and we settled on 4. That's big, It's not easy to talk a Greek out of a buck!

Next day we headed off to New Smyrna Beach to take up Bill and Marlene's offer to spend a couple of days in their beach-side condo.

Largo, FL

We plugged into Bobby & Carol's house when we got to Largo and used that as home base to scoot around from.  Thanks for turning your house into party central for the weekend!

Finally got the beach weather we've been looking for, spent day one at Madeira Beach.  Great beach, how come no one told me alcohol is allowed on this beach (Janine?)  They even sell it at the concession!
Next day we hooked up with Sue for a day at Indian Rocks Beach.
It's crab season here!  Now I'm in my happy place!!  Spent the whole afternoon at Crabby Bills, keep em coming!
Even got to meet Crabby Bill himself, found out why he's called Crabby Bill, man he is one crabby guy!

Angelo and Sue joined us at Bobby and Carols house for a great Pat's Party with tenderloin steaks and a successful ending. Time to make things right with the Giants.

Cedar Key

You have to drive through a whole lot of nothing to get to Cedar Key but its worth the trip.  Its a funky little town with some nice amenities including an abundance of restaurants and accommodations, a great beach and fresh seafood.  I bought a 100 count of their large clams (about little neck size) for 20 bucks!

Bill & Marlene drove across from New Symrna to party with us for a few days!!  That was a ton of fun, thanks guys!

They have an active art community here.

and it's easy to out run the police!

Change of Plans

We did not plan on visiting Florida this year but we both wanted some hotter weather to end our trip on.
So here we go again.  We stayed on US 10 thru Mississippi and Alabama to Mariana Florida in one day.  We spent the night in Florida Caverns State Park.  I fired up the charcoal grill and put on a couple of steaks while Sandi made her famous twice baked potatoes, Yum!

Next day we drove to Tallahassee and stopped to have lunch with the newlyweds Jen & Chris.

That was a fun 2 hour lunch break.  Now on to Cedar Key!

New Orleans

New Orleans, we're having fun now!

Good thing the saints were playing in San Francisco this weekend.  We're so close to the Superdome that we would have been in traffic all day if it was a home game.
Hey, they have a Joan of Arc statue here too!

We had some great food in the French Quarter.

Bead throwers on Burbon Street, no flashing necessary.

Sandi likes Hand Grenades, too sweet for me!
Watched the Pats in our own private screening room with an 80" projection tv and free Bud Lite.  I love it!

  Coffee and beignets for breakfast.
                                                                      Riverwalk

Drinking on the balcony
While the scooter found a safe nook to park for free!

If I can wake Sandi up, we'll end the night in the hot tub!

Moving On

We took it all in on day 2 in Rockport.  Andy Jr.,a former Gloucesterite who now lives in Corpus Christi, drove up to meet us and took us on an excellent guided tour of the area including a short ferry ride to a beach that never ends!

You can drive right on this beach.  I can see myself retiring in a place like this but I imagine spring break time must be overwhelming.
Next day, off to Louisiana, spending the night at a really nice rv park in Sulphur, LA, tomorrow we heading to Norlins in the morning.
